Altercations broke out between the New York Giants and Detroit Lions during joint training camp practices, with several players involved in physical confrontations, leading to the early conclusion of Tuesday's practice.

Tempers flared once again between the New York Giants and Detroit Lions during their joint training camp practices, with multiple altercations marring Tuesday's session, just one day after several incidents on Monday.

The Lions, who are preparing for Thursday's preseason opener against the Giants at MetLife Stadium, were practicing against their opponents when the altercations erupted. On Monday, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown were involved in separate incidents.

On Tuesday, it was Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers who found himself at the center of a physical confrontation. After failing to catch a one-on-one pass against Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, Nabers shoved his hand into the facemask of Lions safety Kerby Joseph as he returned to the huddle.

Joseph retaliated by running back towards Nabers and throwing the first punch. The two exchanged several blows, with their helmets and guardian caps still on. As the two were separated, Giants running back Devin Singletary and Lions safety Brian Branch also engaged in a physical altercation, which was quickly stopped.

According to reports, practice ended early during kickoff drills due to the ongoing altercations. Nabers claimed that Joseph had said something to him before the altercation, but declined to provide details.

The incidents underscore the heightened tensions between the two teams, who are both looking to improve upon disappointing seasons in 2023. The Giants, who missed the playoffs with a 6-11 record, have made significant additions to their roster, including linebacker Brian Burns and offensive linemen Isaiah Wynn and Max Garcia. They also drafted Nabers with the sixth overall pick.

The Lions, who fell short of the playoffs after blowing a 24-7 halftime lead in their Wild Card game against the San Francisco 49ers, have added wide receiver Jameson Williams and edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson to their young and talented core.

Nabers, the sixth overall pick out of LSU, has been the talk of training camp with his play-making ability, and he is expected to make his preseason debut on Thursday.

The altercations serve as a reminder of the intense rivalry between the two teams and the physical nature of football. It remains to be seen whether the tensions will spill over into Thursday's preseason opener, but both sides are eager to gain an early advantage in the NFC East.
