Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens claims Tom Brady ignored his offer to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021 when Antonio Brown left the team. Owens, who is now 50 years old, believes he could still play in the NFL and was ready to fill the void left by Brown.
Legendary wide receiver Terrell Owens has revealed that he reached out to Tom Brady in 2021 with an offer to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Antonio Brown's tumultuous departure from the team. Owens, now 50 years old, claims that Brady never responded to his offer, despite his belief that he could have helped the Buccaneers win another Super Bowl.
In a recent podcast interview on the "Bubba Dub Show," Owens detailed his offer to Brady. "The year that AB went crazy… they just needed somebody to fill some holes with AB leaving at the receiver position," Owens said. "I reached out to him through Randy (Moss) and some other people, just to come in and play third down and red zone situations. This dude ignored me. It just shows you the lack of respect there, but then when they get in front of you they want to act like they respect you."

Owens, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, had not played in an NFL game since 2010 with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, he was confident that he could still contribute at a high level, especially in specific situations like third down and the red zone.
"If he really wanted me, he could have made that happen," Owens added. "I'm just like, 'Yo, this is a guy who I feel like I've helped along the way.' I feel like I've given you tips, I feel like I've given you pointers… so I'm like, 'Yo, you could at least respect me enough to respond.'"

At the time of Brown's departure, the Buccaneers were on their way to winning the NFC South title. It is possible that Owens, who had just turned 48 years old, would have needed a few weeks to prepare for game action. However, he believes that his experience and knowledge of the game would have been invaluable to Brady and the Buccaneers.
Owens' return to the NFL after being inducted into the Hall of Fame would have been unprecedented. His offer to the Buccaneers is a testament to his belief in his own abilities and his desire to continue playing the game he loves.
