Despite Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's criticism, former President Trump's campaign event in the South Bronx drew a large, enthusiastic crowd of locals who voiced their dissatisfaction with current leadership and support for Trump's return to office.
Former President Trump's campaign event in the South Bronx on Thursday evening defied expectations, attracting a massive crowd of more than 25,000 people. This turnout in a traditionally Democratic stronghold signaled a significant shift in sentiment among Bronx residents.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent member of the "Squad," had dismissed the rally as a "trick" attended by "out-of-towners." However, "Jesse Watters Primetime" spoke with numerous self-identified locals who refuted AOC's claims and expressed their support for Trump.
"You need to tell her that she needs to stay out of the Bronx because look at all the people around. Everybody's here for Trump," declared one unidentified man.
The dissatisfaction with AOC's representation was palpable. "She's done nothing" to help the community, stated one woman. Another urged AOC to visit the Bronx and witness firsthand the struggles faced by its residents.
Despite the Bronx overwhelmingly voting for President Biden in 2020, many attendees expressed a desire for change. They cited concerns about rising prices, crime, immigration, and housing, issues they believed the current administration had failed to address.
"He's done nothing but say 'you ain't Black,'" remarked one woman, referring to Biden. "I guess I'll say 'I ain't Black' because I'm not voting for him."
Trump's speech resonated with the crowd, as he addressed their concerns and promised to "rapidly rebuild the greatest economy in the history of the world" if elected.
Some attendees, who identified as Democrats, announced their intention to vote for Trump, citing his ability to "get the job done."
Cherie Corso, a New York voter involved in the 2016 Trump campaign, remarked that Trump "addressed all the key issues" and was "loved" by the audience.
The Bronx's shift towards Trump underscores the growing dissatisfaction with the current administration and signals the potential for significant change in the upcoming election.
