The Far Left's Poisonous Hatred for Israel

The International Criminal Court's appalling arrest warrant against Prime Minister Netanyahu exposes the far left's deep-seated animus towards Israel. With Amal Clooney's complicity, the ICC has equated Hamas's murders with Israel's defensive actions, fueling a dangerous narrative that delegitimizes the only Jewish state.
The International Criminal Court's (ICC) outrageous decision to issue an arrest warrant against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has laid bare the far left's pathological hatred for Israel. Under the guise of human rights advocacy, the ICC has shamelessly aligned itself with the terrorist organization Hamas, perpetuating a travesty of justice that undermines the principles of international law.
At the heart of this charade is Amal Clooney, the ultra-liberal British human rights lawyer who served as a top adviser to the ICC. Clooney's statement equating Netanyahu with Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is a breathtaking distortion of reality. Hamas deliberately murders civilians, as evidenced by the October 7 massacre that claimed the lives of countless innocent Palestinians. In contrast, Israel takes extraordinary measures to avoid civilian casualties, employing warnings and leaflets to minimize harm.
Clooney's warped logic is akin to drawing a moral equivalence between President George W. Bush and Osama bin Laden after September 11th or equating Franklin D. Roosevelt with Adolf Hitler during World War II. It is a grotesque perversion of justice that has sent shockwaves across the world.
Ironically, Amal Clooney's husband, George Clooney, is a prominent supporter of President Joe Biden's campaign. This raises serious questions about Biden's judgment and commitment to Israel's security. By embracing Clooney's views, Biden is essentially endorsing the notion that Israel is a war criminal state, a dangerous and irresponsible position that undermines the United States' credibility as a reliable ally.
Biden's tepid response to the ICC's ruling has further fueled anger and frustration. While he has denounced the move as "outrageous," his actions have fallen far short of the robust condemnation that Israel deserves. His refusal to immediately condemn the ICC's bias and his failure to unequivocally support Israel's right to self-defense have emboldened the far left and left Israel feeling betrayed.
The far left's hatred for Israel is deeply rooted in its ideological opposition to the Jewish state. This animus has manifested itself in violent campus protests, where so-called pro-Palestinian demonstrators have harassed Jewish students and spread anti-Semitic rhetoric. These demonstrations are essentially a proxy for support of Hamas, which seeks to destroy Israel and establish an Islamic state in its place.
Biden's failure to address these protests in a timely manner has further alienated the Jewish community and solidified the far left's grip on his party. The protests have caused fear and intimidation on campuses, creating a hostile environment for Jewish students. Biden's inaction has sent a clear message that he is either unwilling or unable to protect Jewish Americans from the rising tide of anti-Semitism.
The far left's relentless attacks on Israel have put Biden in a precarious position. While he has tried to appease the far left by expressing sympathy for the massive death toll in Gaza, he has also drawn flak for being insufficiently pro-Israel. Republicans, led by House Speaker Mike Johnson, are pushing for sanctions against the ICC, a move that Biden has so far resisted.
The ICC's decision to lump Netanyahu with the head of a terrorist dictatorship like Hamas has dealt a serious blow to its credibility. While Israel's recent raid on an AP bureau in Gaza has raised concerns about press freedom, it is important to note that the bureau was seized because it was broadcasting a feed from al-Jazeera, which Israel has banned as a front for Hamas. The Israeli government later returned the AP's equipment, indicating that it is committed to respecting press freedom.
In a further sign of Israel's dwindling international support, Norway, Spain, and Ireland have agreed to recognize a Palestinian state, despite the fact that such a state remains a fiction. This move is seen as a reward for Hamas's barbaric attacks on Israel and is a troubling indication of the declining sympathy for the Jewish state in the international community.
The far left's hatred for Israel is a poison that has seeped into the heart of American politics. It is a threat to Israel's security, to the United States' credibility as an ally, and to the safety of Jewish Americans. It is time for the United States to stand up to the far left's anti-Israel agenda and to reaffirm its unwavering commitment to the Jewish state.
