In the aftermath of their divorce announcement, former "The Golden Bachelor" stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have been grappling with the challenges that led to their split. The couple, who married in a televised ceremony just three months prior, cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their separation.

One of the most significant hurdles faced by Turner and Nist was the issue of separate living arrangements. Turner resides in Indiana, while Nist lives and works in New Jersey. This geographical distance put a strain on their relationship, making it difficult for them to maintain a close connection.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, former "The Golden Bachelor" contestants Susan Noles and Kathy Swarts expressed their understanding of the challenges faced by Turner and Nist. Noles stated, "I think it's hard when you bring together two families, with children and grandchildren. It's hard to just pick up and move from one place and not have dual households. That's a tough spot to be in."

Swarts echoed Noles' sentiments, adding, "It's not easy to live in different states when you're married. You need to be able to spend time together, and that can be difficult when you're so far apart."

Turner himself addressed the issue of living separately during an appearance on "Live with Kelly and Mark" ahead of the wedding. He expressed optimism about exploring potential locations for a new home, saying, "Early on, we thought Charleston would be a great area. Since being in New Jersey a few times, I really like that area. We now have two areas to explore house hunting, which doubles the fun."

However, despite their initial enthusiasm, the challenges of living in different states eventually proved insurmountable for Turner and Nist. The long distance and the practical difficulties of maintaining a close relationship ultimately contributed to their decision to end their marriage.

In a statement released after their divorce announcement, Turner expressed his continued love and admiration for Nist. He said, "I still love this person, there's no doubt in my mind. I root for her every day."

Nist echoed Turner's sentiments, stating, "We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched 'The Golden Bachelor,' and I don't think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope. We want none of that to change for anybody."

Despite the challenges they faced, Turner and Nist maintain their commitment to their respective families. Turner has two daughters from his late wife Toni, while Nist has children of her own.
