Mosab Hassan Yousef, a former Hamas member known as "The Green Prince," denounces college protests against Israel as "misguided" and "misinformed," urging against sending the wrong messages to terrorists.
Former Hamas member Mosab Hassan Yousef, known as "The Green Prince," has expressed alarm over college protests against Israel, deeming them "misguided" and "misinformed." Yousef, the eldest son of Hamas co-founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, defected to Israel in 1997, working as an undercover agent for a decade before relocating to the United States.
Yousef believes these protests send erroneous signals, potentially emboldening terrorist groups. He warns against bending to terrorists, emphasizing that such actions will only exacerbate the situation. He asserts that Hamas perceives such tolerance as weakness, leading to further complications.
Yousef stresses the absurdity of lawmakers failing to recognize Hamas as a designated terrorist group in the United States. He maintains that these protests stem from a fundamental misunderstanding of the group's nature, describing them as part of a "holy war" under the guise of a political party.
Yousef refutes claims that the Gaza Strip is an "open-air prison." He notes that Israel withdrew from the area nearly two decades ago and that Hamas has enforced strict control while external forces have weakened it. The blockade, he explains, was imposed due to Hamas' refusal to disarm and acknowledge Israel's existence.
Yousef vehemently criticizes Hamas's violent tactics, including killing Palestinians, Arabs, Jews, and Americans. He accuses the group of using violence as its primary strategy and labels their recent actions as genocide.
Dan Diker, President of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, joins Yousef in condemning college protests. Diker argues that protestors have "weaponized" the First Amendment to incite genocide or mass murder against the Jewish community. He emphasizes the need for government officials, including President Biden, to enforce Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and hold higher education institutions accountable.
Diker expresses concern for Jewish students' safety on campus, warning that their well-being is at risk unless protests are curtailed. He urges university officials to implement codes of conduct to protect students from physical harm.
Mosab Hassan Yousef and Dan Diker strongly caution against misguided protests on campus, emphasizing the danger of sending the wrong messages to terrorists and undermining the safety of Jewish students. They urge lawmakers and university officials to take decisive action to address this issue and uphold the principles of tolerance and the rule of law.
