At 80 years old, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger shows no signs of slowing down. The legendary singer recently shared his thoughts on touring, new music, and the secret to his youthful energy.
Mick Jagger, the iconic frontman of the Rolling Stones, has reached the milestone age of 80, yet he continues to exude an infectious energy that belies his years. The singer recently sat down for an interview with Reuters, where he candidly discussed his life, music, and the secret to his remarkable longevity.
Last year, the Rolling Stones released their latest album, "Hackney Diamonds," which has been well-received by fans worldwide. Jagger expressed his delight at the album's success and hinted at the possibility of new music in the not-too-distant future. "We've got a lot more, so I think we may be set up to make another album quite soon," he said.
While the band is currently embarking on a U.S. tour, Jagger revealed their aspirations to extend their reach internationally. "It's hard to pin them down," he said of potential guest appearances from renowned musicians like Paul McCartney and Lady Gaga.
Jagger attributes his youthful energy to his unwavering passion for music and the unwavering love of his audience. "I just enjoy it," he said of performing. "Really, that's the answer. I just love doing it. You get this back and forth with the audience. You can see they're having a good time, you're having a good time, and it gives you a lot more energy."
Aside from his love of music, Jagger credits his physical fitness and good genes for his ability to maintain his energetic stage presence. "I do two dance rehearsals a week along with a few gym workouts," he explained. "My father was a fitness instructor who lived to be 93."
In addition to his musical achievements, Jagger is also a devoted father to eight children from various relationships. He shares a 7-year-old son with his long-term girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick.
At 80 years old, Jagger acknowledges the challenges of aging but maintains a positive outlook. "I'm feeling good," he said. "It took a couple of shows to get into the groove, but now we're into it." He joked that touring as an octogenarian feels "like being on stage at 78."
As the Rolling Stones continue their musical journey, Jagger reflected on the band's enduring legacy and the inspiration they have provided to generations of musicians. "We've always been independent and done it our own way," he said. "I think that's what makes us special."
At 80 years young, Mick Jagger remains an icon of rock 'n' roll. His passion for music, unwavering energy, and enduring legacy continue to inspire fans worldwide. The Rolling Stones' journey is far from over, and with Jagger at the helm, the band promises to continue delivering electrifying performances for years to come.
