Jerry Seinfeld's wife, Jessica, chronicled their experience of moving their youngest son, Shepherd, into his college dorm at Duke University. The family's trip was met with a brief disruption by anti-Israel protesters, but the graduation speech Jerry gave last spring was also interrupted by protesters.
As their youngest son embarks on a new chapter in his life, Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld experienced a bittersweet moment as they helped Shepherd move into his college dorm at Duke University in North Carolina. Amidst the excitement and anticipation, the family also navigated the ongoing tensions surrounding the conflict in the Middle East, which has led to protests at college graduations across the country.
On Monday, Jessica took to Instagram to share several photos of the family's move-in day. The heartwarming images captured Shepherd preparing to unpack the car, his 70-year-old comedian father sorting through his son's clothes in a small closet, and the family stopping for lunch and a goodbye hug.

Jessica captioned the post, "Move-in weekend. All 3 baby birds have flown," along with a message of support for other parents going through the same experience. "Hope all of you first timers or last timers are holding up."
The couple's eldest child, Sascha, who graduated from Duke in 2020, joined her family on the move-in trip. Jessica also included a picture of the family of five all together, marking a significant milestone in their lives.

Back in June, Jessica shared photos of Shepherd's high school graduation, revealing that they gave him a flip phone for the occasion in hopes that he would turn in his smartphone. Reflecting on their decision, she joked, "If I knew then what I know now, I would've waited until age 14 to give him a smartphone (he got handed down an old one at age 12, for the bus ride to school in the Bronx)."
In May, Jerry Seinfeld gave the keynote speech at Duke's commencement, which was briefly interrupted by protesters. "[A] small group (about 30-40) of protestors tried to interrupt Jerry's commencement speech at @dukeuniversity today," Jessica wrote in a post. "Despite their efforts, it had no impact on the ceremony... Jerry's speech was amazing and received a standing ovation from grads and their parents."

The Seinfelds have three children: Sascha, Julian, and Shepherd. Jessica occasionally shares glimpses of their family life on social media, including a photo of the family of five for the holidays in 2021. "We made desserts together without killing each other! It's a Thanksgiving Miracle!" she joked.
As Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld adjust to their new status as empty nesters, they can look back on their children's college experiences with a mix of pride and nostalgia. Shepherd's journey at Duke promises to be filled with both academic and personal growth, just as his siblings have experienced.
