Despite the growing recognition of China's threat to the United States, many corners of the federal government remain reluctant to acknowledge the gravity of the situation. This reluctance, often rooted in a fear of offending China, has led to tepid responses and a failure to adequately address the CCP's political warfare against the United States.

For decades, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has waged an aggressive campaign of political warfare against the United States, seeking to weaken our country without firing a shot. This insidious strategy, which includes infiltration, influence operations, and economic coercion, poses a significant threat to our national security and way of life.

Unfortunately, many federal agencies have failed to fully grasp the severity of this threat. When they do address it, they often censor their language and rely on neutral strategies that avoid explicitly identifying China as the adversary. This reluctance stems from a belief that criticizing China could jeopardize economic ties or other forms of cooperation.

However, this approach is shortsighted and counterproductive. By refusing to openly confront the CCP's threat, the United States is allowing it to continue its political warfare unchallenged. This inaction weakens our ability to protect our national security, economic interests, and democratic values.

For example, the NASA administrator recently congratulated the CCP on obtaining the first samples of lunar rocks from the far side of the moon. This statement demonstrates a profound naivety regarding China's goals in space, which are inextricably intertwined with its militaristic ambitions.

Similarly, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) rejected the suggestion that it should warn American consumers about the unique dangers of Chinese-made products. This stance ignores the fact that China has a documented history of exporting unsafe and defective goods, posing a significant risk to American consumers.

The willful blindness of federal agencies to CCP political warfare is evident in their messaging about it and their strategy to counter it. This may be a function of CCP influence itself. The shuttering of the Department of Justice's China Initiative in 2022, after DOJ found no merit in charges of racial bias, is a case in point.

The DEA, however, stands as an exception, openly confronting the CCP threat by messaging candidly about deadly fentanyl precursors originating in China and the role Chinese transnational criminal organizations play in trafficking.

Federal agencies must wake up to the CCP threat by engaging with and inspiring Americans to push back against infiltration and influence. The American people are better prepared for this confrontation than their own government, as evidenced by their pride in their country.

The House Oversight Committee demands answers from federal agencies that fail to address the CCP threat head-on. The committee expects nothing less from the American government. The CCP's political warfare is a grave and unprecedented threat, and our federal agencies must urgently adapt their strategies to meet this challenge.
