Co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin express concern about Biden's age and mental fitness, urging him to reconsider his re-election bid.

"The View" erupted in a heated debate on Friday, with several co-hosts expressing their disapproval of President Biden's performance in Thursday's presidential debate. The consensus was that Biden's age and cognitive abilities were evident throughout the night, raising concerns about his suitability for a second term.

Co-host Sunny Hostin, a staunch Biden supporter, admitted that "it was really hard to watch" and suggested that Biden should consider stepping down. "I think Biden's team saw it coming," co-host Sara Haines said. "I think that's why they pushed for an earlier debate, so they'd have time to change course if needed."

Haines urged Biden's inner circle to have a "very hard conversation" with him about his future. "Democrats need to stop spinning the age problem," she said. "Joy Behar at 81 is not Joe Biden at 81, and that was on full display last night."

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former Trump administration official, expressed shock at Biden's performance. "He needs to put country before his own ambition and he needs to step aside and pass the baton," Griffin said. "If it's Trump versus Biden, Trump is gonna [win]."

Hostin acknowledged that Biden "lost that debate" and suggested that he "maybe needs to go." "He can bow out at this time with grace and dignity," she said. "He has a record he can be proud of."

While Hostin and Griffin advocated for Biden's withdrawal, co-host Ana Navarro remained hesitant. "I love Joe Biden, and I've known Joe Biden for over 20 years," Navarro said. "I'm not going to judge Joe Biden on 90 bad minutes."

However, Griffin argued that "the stakes are too high" for Democrats to stick with Biden. She expressed disappointment that the White House had repeatedly claimed Biden was sharp-minded, only for his performance to prove otherwise.

After a commercial break, the show discussed potential replacements for Biden, including Vice President Kamala Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Griffin reiterated her belief that Biden would lose to Trump if he remained in the race.

Despite the calls for his resignation, there is no indication that Biden intends to step aside. He has already secured the 2024 Democratic nomination, and it remains to be seen whether he will heed the concerns of his supporters and reconsider his candidacy.
