A recent photo of Tiger Woods' leg has emerged, showing a large scar from his 2021 car accident. Experts are questioning his ability to continue competing in golf's major championships.
Tiger Woods' recent appearance at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championships in Michigan has raised concerns about his golfing future. A photo captured by a Getty Images photographer shows Woods with a large scar on his right leg, which he severely injured in a 2021 car accident.
The image reveals the extent of Woods' injuries, shattering bones in his tibia and requiring a rod, screws, and pins for stabilization. In a 2021 interview with Golf Digest, Woods admitted that amputation was a possibility during the immediate aftermath of the crash.

Woods has undergone extensive rehabilitation and returned to tournament play since the accident. However, his performance in the 2024 golf season has been disappointing. He missed the cut in three of the four majors, including the Masters, where he finished 60th.
Sports analyst Skip Bayless believes it's time for Woods to retire from competing in major championships. "Tiger should quit playing golf major championships before he embarrasses himself even worse," Bayless said.

Bayless cited Woods' recent struggles, arguing that he lacks the mobility and endurance to compete at a high level. "He's not the same player he once was," Bayless said. "His leg is a major liability."
Orthopedic surgeon Dr. David Chao agrees that Woods' leg injury is a significant challenge. "It's a very complex injury," Chao said. "He has limited range of motion and strength in his right leg, which affects his swing."

Chao believes Woods could continue playing in PGA Tour events, but major championships with their demanding courses and long walks could be too much. "He may be able to compete in certain tournaments, but I don't think he's going to be a contender in major championships," Chao said.
Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, declined to comment on Bayless' remarks or Woods' future plans. However, he did acknowledge the challenges Woods has faced. "Tiger has worked incredibly hard to get back to playing the game he loves," Steinberg said. "He's a fighter, and he'll continue to do everything he can to improve."
Despite the doubts and concerns, Woods remains determined to continue competing. He has already entered the upcoming Open Championship, scheduled for July 20-23 at Royal Troon.
Woods' decision to play in the Open highlights his unwavering belief in his abilities and desire to prove that he can still compete at the highest level. However, his fans and critics alike will be closely watching his performance, wondering if he has what it takes to overcome the challenges presented by his leg injury and return to his former glory.
