Golf legend Tiger Woods arrived at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina this week, setting his sights on the 2024 U.S. Open, a tournament that has eluded him since his last victory in 2008. Despite a string of recent setbacks, Woods exudes confidence in his ability to defy the odds and emerge victorious at Pinehurst.

Over the past 22 majors, Woods has faced challenges, missing the cut ten times and withdrawing on two occasions. However, he remains undeterred, expressing belief in his capabilities. "I feel like I have the strength to be able to do it," Woods told reporters Tuesday.

The 48-year-old golf icon has faced adversity since suffering serious injuries in a single-car crash in 2021. His struggles have been evident in recent tournaments, including the PGA Championship last month, where he missed the cut.

Nonetheless, Woods' presence at Pinehurst signals his determination to overcome these obstacles. The golf course, renowned for its challenging layout, will test every aspect of his game, particularly his mental resilience.

"This golf course is going to test every single aspect of your game, especially mentally, and just the mental discipline that it takes to play this particular golf course. It's going to take a lot," said Woods.

Despite the demanding conditions, Woods finds solace in the familiar weather pattern of North Carolina. The upper 80s to mid-90s temperatures resemble the climate he encounters in Florida, where he resides.

"It's like home. Hot and humid is what we deal with every single day at home in Florida, so that's nothing new," said Woods.

Weather conditions are expected to play a significant role throughout the tournament, presenting challenges for all competitors. Woods acknowledges the mental toll that the heat will bring, but he emphasizes the importance of hydration and focus.

Woods and his playing partners, Will Zalatoris and Matt Fitzpatrick, are scheduled to tee off at 7:29 a.m. ET on Thursday. The tournament will showcase Woods' resilience and determination as he aims to conquer one of the most prestigious events in golf.

With his unmatched experience and unyielding spirit, Tiger Woods remains a formidable contender in the world of golf. While the odds may not be in his favor, his unwavering confidence and the support of his loyal fans will drive him to push the boundaries and strive for victory at the 2024 U.S. Open.
