South Carolina Senator Tim Scott took aim at Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson for dismissing former President Donald Trump's popularity with Black voters, stating that in November, Johnson will have to "buy it."

South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, a prominent figure in the Republican Party, has vehemently rejected the assertion made by Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson that former President Donald Trump lacks the ability to attract Black voters.

In a recent interview, Mayor Johnson questioned Senator Scott's effectiveness in reaching out to the Black community and cast doubt on the notion that Trump has made significant inroads with Black voters.

"I think there's probably a reason why Tim Scott wasn't selected to be the vice president even though Mr. Trump is supposedly trying to make inroads with African Americans," Johnson said. "I don't buy that, I just don't."

Scott, a Republican from South Carolina, has been actively involved in outreach efforts to Black voters, and he expressed confidence that Trump will see a significant increase in support from African-American voters in the upcoming election.

"If we market our message," Scott told Fox News at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin, "Trump will see the highest turnout of African-American voters we've seen since he's been running for president."

Scott emphasized that Trump has delivered for African-American voters, citing the former president's efforts on issues such as criminal justice reform and economic development.

He acknowledged the challenges posed by reaching out to Black women, who have traditionally been loyal supporters of the Democratic Party. However, he expressed optimism about the potential for gains among Black men.

"Black men are very different," Scott said. "They are what I call gettable. If we sell our message sincerely, accurately, with passion, I believe that selling our message to the African-American community will result in a lot of strong turnout."

Scott set a target of 15% support from Black voters, which he believes could significantly impact the election.

In contrast to Johnson's skepticism, a recent USA Today/Suffolk University poll indicated a decline in support for President Biden among Black voters in swing states, while Fox News polling showed a narrowing of Biden's lead among Black voters compared to the 2020 election.

Scott's remarks come amid ongoing efforts by both parties to mobilize Black voters ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. The stakes are high, as the outcome could reshape the balance of power in Congress and impact the direction of the country.
