After a closely contested battle, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets 98-90 in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals, earning a berth in the conference finals. Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves' charge, while Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray paced the Nuggets, who fell short in their quest for a second consecutive NBA title.

In a captivating Game 7 showdown at Ball Arena, the Minnesota Timberwolves overcame a 20-point deficit to defeat the Denver Nuggets 98-90 and secure a spot in the Western Conference finals.

The Nuggets, propelled by reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, established an early advantage, building a commanding 58-38 lead with just over 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter. However, the momentum shifted dramatically as Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves' leading scorer, finally found his rhythm. Edwards connected on a series of clutch shots, igniting a 28-14 run that trimmed Minnesota's deficit to just six points at the end of the third quarter.

The Timberwolves maintained their newfound energy in the fourth quarter, extending their lead to 92-82 with just over three minutes remaining. Although the Nuggets, with the support of their home crowd, attempted a valiant comeback, Karl-Anthony Towns sealed Minnesota's victory with a thunderous putback dunk with 43 seconds left on the clock.

Anthony Edwards, despite an uncharacteristically low field goal percentage of 6-of-24, contributed 16 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals for the Timberwolves. Towns, the team's co-leading scorer, notched 23 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, two assists, and one block, providing a dominant presence both offensively and defensively.

Jaden McDaniels, the Timberwolves' standout performer in Game 7, chipped in with 23 points, including three three-pointers, and six rebounds. Naz Reid, the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year, provided valuable contributions off the bench, scoring 11 points and grabbing four rebounds.

For the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic, despite logging a marathon performance and playing all but one minute, finished with 34 points and 19 rebounds. Jamal Murray, the team's second-leading scorer, recorded a game-high 35 points but struggled from beyond the arc, converting only four of his 12 three-point attempts.

The loss marks a disappointing end to Denver's title defense, as they failed to match their success from last season. The Timberwolves, on the other hand, have exceeded expectations this postseason and will now face the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference finals, starting on Wednesday. The winner of that series will advance to the NBA Finals and compete for the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
