Fresno native Xavier Worthy made a dazzling NFL debut with the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night, hauling in two touchdown passes in a 27-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Worthy, a wide receiver, was selected by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He made an immediate impact in his first NFL game, catching three passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns.

Worthy's first touchdown came in the first quarter on a 15-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He made a leaping catch in the end zone over Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey.

Worthy's second touchdown came in the third quarter on a 25-yard pass from Mahomes. He beat Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters off the line of scrimmage and made a diving catch in the end zone.

Worthy's performance was even more impressive considering that he was playing in front of a hostile crowd in Baltimore. The Ravens have one of the most passionate fan bases in the NFL, but Worthy was unfazed.

After the game, Worthy said that he was "just trying to do my job" and that he was "grateful for the opportunity to play in the NFL."

Chiefs coach Andy Reid was full of praise for Worthy after the game.

"Xavier is a special player," Reid said. "He's got a lot of talent and he's a hard worker. I'm really excited about his future with the Chiefs."

Worthy's performance was a bright spot in an otherwise lackluster performance by the Chiefs' offense. Mahomes threw for just 249 yards and two touchdowns, and he was intercepted once.

The Chiefs' defense also struggled at times, allowing the Ravens to score 20 points. However, the Chiefs were able to come up with some big plays when they needed them, including a late interception by safety Justin Reid.

The Chiefs improved to 2-1 with the win, while the Ravens fell to 1-2. The Chiefs will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday, while the Ravens will travel to New England to face the Patriots.

Xavier Worthy was born and raised in Fresno, California. He attended Edison High School, where he was a standout football player. Worthy was recruited by several major college football programs, but he ultimately decided to attend the University of Michigan.

Worthy had a successful college career at Michigan, catching 91 passes for 1,470 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was also a standout return specialist, returning three punts for touchdowns.

Worthy was selected by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He is expected to be a major contributor to the Chiefs' offense this season.
