During a controversial event attended by a designated terrorist organization member and funded by a Chinese Communist Party asset, an aide of Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib attempted to obstruct a Fox News cameraman. The event, the People's Conference for Palestine, featured speakers with ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S.
During a contentious event that featured a designated terrorist organization member as a speaker and was funded by an asset of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), an aide of Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib attempted to obstruct a Fox News cameraman. The incident occurred at the People's Conference for Palestine held over the weekend in Detroit.
Tlaib delivered a speech at the event, blasting President Biden's handling of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza and accusing him of being an "enabler" of genocide. However, the event's connections to terrorism and the CCP have raised concerns.
One of the speakers at the event was Wisam Rafeedie, an activist with ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. The PFLP is responsible for numerous attacks on Israeli civilians, including the 2001 assassination of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Zeevi.
The event was organized by a left-wing activist group called The People's Forum, which has played a role in several anti-Israel protests since Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7, 2024. The People's Forum is part of the "Singham Network," a global web of nonprofits, fiscal sponsors, and alternative news sources tied to Neville Roy Singham, an American-born multimillionaire tech mogul based in Shanghai with alleged connections to the CCP.
In her speech, Tlaib accused President Biden of ignoring international law and failing to hold Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accountable for alleged war crimes in Gaza. She also criticized her Democratic colleagues for condemning anti-Israel campus protesters, accusing them of silencing free speech.
Congressman Mike Lawler (R-NY) called for Tlaib's removal from Congress, stating that "associating with and speaking before groups that are funded by US designated terrorist organizations is disqualifying." Fox News Digital reached out to Tlaib's office for comment but did not receive a response before publication.
The incident involving Tlaib's aide and the event's connections to terrorism and the CCP have raised questions about Tlaib's judgment and her commitment to fighting extremism. It also highlights the growing influence of foreign powers in American politics and the need for vigilance against threats to national security.
