Tom Brady, now a broadcaster, believes Sunday's Cowboys-Browns game will be a "defensive game" due to the presence of elite defenses on both sides.

NFL legend Tom Brady, embarking on a new chapter in his career as a broadcaster, is expecting a defensive showdown in Sunday's Cowboys-Browns matchup. As Brady prepares to call the game on FOX Sports, he shared his insights on "The Herd" podcast.

"I think it's a defensive game," Brady stated. "You got two great defenses. Coach [Mike] Zimmer is a huge addition to that Dallas defense."

Both Dallas and Cleveland boast impressive defenses. The Cowboys ranked fifth in yards allowed and scoring defense last season, while the Browns had the top-ranked defense in yards allowed.

Brady highlights the Cowboys' star linebacker Micah Parsons, a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, and the return of cornerback Trevon Diggs, who missed much of last season with an ACL injury.

The Browns, meanwhile, can count on reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, Pro Bowlers Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Denzel Ward, and a stout pass rush.

However, Brady acknowledges that both teams' running games are not at full strength. The Cowboys lost Tony Pollard in free agency, while the Browns await Nick Chubb's return from a knee injury.

"I don't know if those passing games are quite in mid-season form yet," Brady said. "CeeDee [Lamb] wasn't in camp. Dak [Prescott] didn't have a lot of looks at that. Again, some of these passing games may take a little time to develop."

Brady predicts a close and defensive game, citing the presence of two elite coordinators, Dan Quinn and Mike Zimmer, and two of the NFL's best defensive lines.

Despite Prescott's impressive 2022 season, Brady notes that his contract status and the Cowboys' offseason drama could potentially impact the team's performance.

Brady commends coach Mike McCarthy for his handling of the distractions, but emphasizes that it's now time for the Cowboys to focus on football.

Brady expresses his excitement for his broadcasting debut, calling it a "great opening game." "This is what it's all about," he said.

As the two elite defenses take to the field, Brady's predictions will be put to the test, with the Cowboys and Browns hoping to prove they can ignite their offenses and emerge victorious.
