Tom Brady has expressed regret over participating in the Netflix roast, "The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady," acknowledging that it had an adverse effect on his children.

Appearing on "The Pivot Podcast," Brady shared his thoughts on the event, which featured comedians, athletes, and celebrities poking fun at his life and career. While he found the jokes about himself amusing, he admitted that his children were affected by some of the material.

"I loved when the jokes were about me," Brady said. "I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way that it affected my kids."

He referred to his sons, 14-year-old Benjamin and 16-year-old Jack, as well as his 11-year-old daughter Vivian, expressing concern about how the jokes may have impacted them.

"So, it’s the hardest part about the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of the way it affected the people that I care about the most," Brady explained.

Brady emphasized that he had initially signed up for the roast with the intention of having fun and being the subject of humor. However, he realized that the jokes had a wider impact than he had anticipated.

"Like I said, when I signed up for that I love when people were making fun of me," he said.

One aspect of Brady's life that was heavily scrutinized during the roast was his failed marriage to Gisele Bündchen. A source told "Entertainment Tonight" that Bündchen was upset and hurt by some of the jokes, particularly those about her new relationship with Joaquim Valente.

"She found some of the jokes to be distasteful and disrespectful," the source added.

Soccer legend David Beckham revealed that he had reached out to Brady after the roast to check on him, indicating that Bündchen was not the only one who found the jokes insensitive.

Despite the negative impact on his family, Brady maintained that he had enjoyed the roast overall. He drew parallels to his experience during the "Deflategate" scandal, stating that comedy had helped him cope with the controversy.

"Cause every time I turn on ‘SportsCenter’ I was like, 'Are you f---ing kidding me?' I just want to laugh," he explained.

Brady expressed a desire for more laughter and positivity in society, emphasizing the importance of celebrating other people's successes.

"If we’re not laughing about things, we’re crying," he said. "And I think we should have more fun. What did we love [when we were in the NFL]? We loved laughing in the locker room. Let’s do more of that and love each other and, c’mon man, celebrate other people’s success. That, to me, gives everyone a lot of hope."

While Brady enjoyed the roast as a whole, he indicated that he would be hesitant to participate in another one in the future, citing the potential impact on his family.
