Tom Brady's highly anticipated roast special on Netflix, "The Greatest Roast of All Time," featured a star-studded lineup of comedians, former teammates, and celebrities ready to poke fun at the legendary quarterback. However, once the cameras stopped rolling, Brady reportedly made a hasty exit, leaving some to wonder why.

Comedian Nikki Glaser, who performed on the roast, revealed in an interview on "The Pat McAfee Show" that Brady did not attend the afterparty following the event. Glaser hinted that the harshness of some of the jokes, particularly those about Brady's divorce, may have been a contributing factor to his absence.

Glaser explained that while Brady may have initially brushed off the jokes, upon reflection, they could have left a lasting sting. She noted that jokes about Brady losing his family, despite him remaining a great father, and his losses to the New York Giants in two Super Bowls may have hit a nerve.

"I think that's one he didn't predict. And the truth is, he didn't lose his family. He is a great father. That was obviously hyperbole. He lost his wife," Glaser said. "So I feel like he was a little pissed off about that, but he literally could've had somewhere to go."

Glaser expressed her understanding of the emotional toll that roasting can take. She explained that while performers may not be immediately affected by harsh jokes, they can later evoke feelings of anger or hurt.

DeflateGate, Aaron Hernandez, and Brady's two Super Bowl losses to the Giants were also major themes throughout the roast. Comedian Chris Distefano joked about Brady's association with Hernandez, the former New England Patriots tight end who was convicted of murder, saying, "Tom, you can't keep getting away with this. Aaron Hernandez is living proof that if you're a friend of Tom Brady, you're either playing with blown-up balls or you're going to jail."

Other jokes poked fun at Brady's relationship with his former coach Bill Belichick, his wife Gisele Bündchen, and his age. Comedian Dave Chappelle opened the roast with a zinger, saying, "Tom Brady is 45 years old. I don't know how old you have to be to be a GOAT, but Tom Brady is old enough to be my stepfather."

While Brady's absence from the afterparty remains unexplained, it has fueled speculation that the jokes may have hit too close to home for the seven-time Super Bowl winner.
