Despite a successful decades-long career, actor Tom Selleck, known for his iconic role in "Magnum, P.I.," may face a significant financial setback with the end of his current show, "Blue Bloods." Selleck's substantial California ranch, purchased after his departure from "Magnum," could be at risk if he is unable to secure new acting opportunities.

Tom Selleck's illustrious career has spanned decades, but the imminent end of his popular CBS drama "Blue Bloods" has cast a shadow over his financial future. The 79-year-old actor openly discussed his concerns during an interview on "CBS Sunday Morning," revealing that he could potentially lose his cherished 63-acre California ranch.

"You know, hopefully I keep working enough to hold onto the place," Selleck said, referring to his ranch in Ventura County. Purchased in 1988 after leaving "Magnum: P.I.," the ranch once served as an avocado farm before a drought forced Selleck to shift his focus to its restoration.

Selleck's candid admission surprised the interviewer, who questioned whether his ranch's financial viability was a genuine concern. "That's always an issue," Selleck replied. "If I stopped working, yeah. Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!"

Despite his worries, Selleck remains optimistic about his acting future. Having initially aspired to be a professional baseball player, an elective college theater class redirected his path and led to his breakout role in "Magnum, P.I." in the late 1960s. Since then, Selleck has become a household name.

Selleck is eager to continue working, even after the conclusion of "Blue Bloods." He acknowledges the constant threat of unemployment in the acting profession, but remains undeterred. "As an actor, you never lose – I don't lose, anyway – that sense that every time I finish a job, it's my last job," he said.

"I like the fact that there's no excuses!" he continued with a laugh. "You just go to work and you do the work. And I have a lot of reverence for what I call 'the work,' and I love it. And I'd like to keep doing it."

Selleck holds out hope that CBS will reconsider its decision to end "Blue Bloods." The show has consistently performed well in the ratings, and Selleck believes it has the potential to continue for some time. "I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses," he said. "We're the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We're winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren't sliding off down a cliff. We're doing good shows, and still holding our place. So, I don't know. You tell me!"

In a separate interview on "CBS Mornings," Selleck reiterated his belief that the show's cancellation is "debatable" and that it remains "as good as ever." He finds solace in his ranch and his family, which includes his wife Jillie Mack and their two children, Hannah and Kevin. "My relationships and my ranch keep me sane," he said. "I do grunt work and I make the rounds. I like watching things grow. It's a retreat."

Tom Selleck's legacy as an iconic actor is secure, but the end of "Blue Bloods" raises questions about his financial stability. His devotion to his ranch and his unwavering passion for acting suggest that he will navigate this transition with resilience and determination.
