Hollywood legend Tom Selleck has added another accomplishment to his impressive resume with the release of his memoir, "You Never Know." But unlike many of his contemporaries, Selleck has chosen a distinctly old-fashioned approach to its creation: handwriting.

In a recent interview with Town and Country, the "Blue Bloods" actor revealed his reasons for opting for pen and paper over a keyboard. "I've always written that way, and it's the only way I know how to write. I can't think in front of a keyboard," he explained.

Selleck's aversion to technology extends beyond his writing. The 79-year-old actor has never sent an email or text message, relying instead on a secretary or his wife, Jillie Mack, to handle such communication.

His lack of enthusiasm for modern conveniences has been the subject of previous interviews. In April, Selleck told People magazine that he occasionally searches his name online but has never sent an email. "I have a hard time writing things down, which is weird for a guy who's pushing a book," he admitted.

Despite his fame, Selleck doesn't often experience starstruck moments. However, he made an exception for Mae West. "I didn't get starstruck with [James] Garner, even though I just deeply respected his work, loved his work," he said. "But I probably got a little starstruck with Mae West."

According to Selleck, "the really good people — good actors — have a way of cutting through that pretty quick."

One of his most memorable encounters was dancing with Princess Diana at a White House state dinner. Selleck recalled in his book that he was approached by a woman who told him, "Mr. Travolta and the princess are dancing for a second time together. We can’t have that. We don’t want to start rumors, do we?"

Selleck was reluctant to cut in on Travolta, but the woman insisted. "Mr. Selleck, you must step in and replace him."

Despite his lack of dancing skills, Selleck agreed to dance with Diana. "Look, I skipped cotillion," he told Town and Country. "I just talked. But she was very gracious and obviously had learned the skill of dealing with people and relaxing."

Selleck's handwritten memoir, "You Never Know," offers a unique glimpse into the mind of a legendary actor who remains an anomaly in an increasingly digitalized world. His aversion to technology and preference for traditional methods serve as a reminder of the enduring power of pen and paper in the age of electronics.
