After a valiant fight for life, the 3-year-old son of renowned saddle bronc champion Spencer Wright has passed away following a tragic river accident. Despite initial glimmers of hope, the toddler's injuries proved too severe, leaving an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family and community.
In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Spencer Wright, the celebrated saddle bronc champion, mourns the loss of his 3-year-old son, Levi, who passed away on Sunday after a devastating river accident. Nearly two weeks after falling off his toy tractor and drowning in a Utah river, Levi succumbed to the severe brain damage caused by oxygen deprivation.
The tragedy unfolded on May 21st when Levi's mother, Kallie Wright, briefly left him unattended in Beaver Creek. Upon her return, she discovered his tractor overturned by the riverbank and Levi nowhere to be found. A frantic search party was immediately organized, leading to the discovery of the unresponsive toddler in the river.
Airlifted to Beaver Valley Hospital in critical condition, Levi remained on life support until the family made the difficult decision to end it on Sunday. Mindy Sue Clark, a close family friend, expressed their profound grief in a Facebook post, describing the past two weeks as an unbearable ordeal.
Despite initially grim prognoses, Levi exhibited signs of brain activity last week, opening his eyes and responding to his sister's voice on an EEG. The family had hoped to wean him off his breathing tube pending further improvements. However, Kallie Wright shared in a heartbreaking Facebook update that their worst fears had been realized.
Levi's father, 33-year-old Spencer Wright, is ranked among the world's top saddle bronc riders. He made history in 2014 when he and his three brothers all qualified for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, with Wright emerging victorious. The family's story inspired the book "The Last Cowboys" and an episode of "60 Minutes."
In the face of unimaginable loss, the Wrights have expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community. Clark, in her Facebook post, emphasized the power of Levi's story in reminding people of what truly matters in life.
Levi's passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, but his memory will live on as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the unbreakable bond between a child and their loved ones.
