In a chilling revelation, North Carolina authorities release a 911 call and timeline surrounding the death of South Carolina woman Mica Miller, confirming she died by suicide in April after purchasing a handgun from a pawn shop. Despite allegations and rumors, the investigation concluded Miller's husband was not present at the time of her death.
On April 27, 2024, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina released a comprehensive timeline and the harrowing 911 call made by South Carolina woman Mica Miller shortly before her death by suicide.
According to medical examiner Richard Johnson, Miller, 30, succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Lumber River State Park, located an hour from her hometown of Myrtle Beach.
In the statement accompanying the release, Sheriff Burnis Wilkins emphasized the thorough investigation conducted by their Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Investigative Teams. "While I know it's not what many people wanted to hear, the evidence is quite clear and compelling," he said.
Miller, married to pastor John-Paul Miller, had filed three "separate support and maintenance" requests since last year, the latest on April 16. Social media speculation about the circumstances surrounding her death quickly escalated, prompting the sheriff's office to issue a statement addressing the rumors.
Investigators determined that John-Paul Miller and a female he allegedly had a romantic connection with were not in Robeson County at the time of Mica's death. Surveillance footage showed Miller's vehicle traveling outside Robeson County around the time of her death.
Additionally, Miller was found to have purchased a 9 mm Sig Sauer handgun from a pawn shop on the morning of her alleged suicide. The gun case and receipt were discovered in her vehicle at Lumber River State Park. A matching handgun was later recovered from the site of her death.
In the released 911 call, Miller expressed her desire to be located and stated, "I'm about to kill myself, and I just want my family to know where to find me."
Despite the medical examiner's ruling, friends and family of Mica Miller remain skeptical and have expressed their doubts on social media. "I don't believe it's over," said Allicia Young, a close friend of Miller. "I believe more stuff will come out!"
Miller's obituary described her as a vibrant and loving individual, but some passages raised questions among her loved ones. "She would praise her husband after every church service telling him he was the best preacher in the world (even if it wasn’t true)."
Young shared that John-Paul Miller often mentioned Mica in his sermons and made derogatory comments about women. "He always made sure that he told everybody that he had a hot wife and how hot she was," Young said.
The Horry County Clerk's Office confirmed that Mica had filed three "separate support and maintenance" requests since last year.
As the Myrtle Beach community grapples with the tragic loss, Mica's family and friends have initiated a social media campaign under the hashtag "JusticeforMica."
Attorney Regina Ward, representing Mica's family, has yet to provide a statement. Fox News Digital has reached out to Solid Rock at Market Common, John-Paul Miller's congregation, but has not received an immediate response.
