Four lives were tragically cut short when an alleged drunk driver crashed into a Long Island nail salon on Friday afternoon. Among the victims was off-duty NYPD Officer Emilia Rennhack, who had been getting her nails done for an upcoming wedding. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community and beyond.

Friday's devastating car crash in Deer Park, Long Island, has claimed the lives of four people, including an off-duty NYPD officer.

The deceased officer has been identified as 30-year-old Emilia Rennhack, who worked in the NYPD's 102nd precinct. She was reportedly at the nail salon getting ready for a fellow officer's wedding.

Tragically, Rennhack is not the only victim. Three other individuals have been identified as Jiancai Chen, 37, Yan Xu, 41, and Meizi Zhang, 50.

The incident occurred when Steven Schwally, 47, of Dix Hills, Long Island, allegedly drove his Chevrolet Traverse SUV at high speed through the parking lot and crashed into the Hawaii Nail & Spa.

Schwally has been arrested for driving while intoxicated. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and will be arraigned at a later date.

Witness Eric Perez described the crash as a horrifying experience. "Sounded like glass shattering," he said. "Like nothing I've heard before."

Footage from the crash scene reveals a gaping hole in the small nail salon, where the SUV entered the building. Police confirmed that the vehicle "drove all the way through the building" and came to a halt at its back.

Nine other individuals, including a 12-year-old girl, were injured in the crash and hospitalized.

The New York Police Department expressed their condolences on Twitter, stating, "The NYPD mourns the loss of @NYPD102Pct Police Officer Emilia Rennhack. Rest in Peace."

The New York Police Benevolent Association also extended their support, saying, "Our hearts are breaking following the tragic loss of our 102 Pct. sister P.O. Emilia Rennhack... Please join us in praying for her family, friends, and coworkers."

Rennhack had been a member of the police force since 2018. Her untimely passing has been met with an outpouring of grief and support.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Suffolk County Police Department.
