According to Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, the shooting occurred at Delaware County Linen, a family-owned business that has been serving the community since 1988. The suspect, a former employee, entered the store and opened fire on his former coworkers.
Stollsteimer described the incident as an "absolute tragedy," adding that two individuals lost their lives simply by showing up for work. He identified the deceased victims as a 58-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, whose identities have not yet been released.
The three injured victims were transported to a local hospital, where one remains in critical condition. Authorities have not released their identities or provided further details about their injuries.
The suspected shooter was apprehended shortly after the shooting and taken into custody. His identity and motive have not been disclosed, but Stollsteimer said that he was a former employee who had been disgruntled.
The Delaware County Linen store where the shooting took place is a family-run business that employs approximately 10 people. The company provides linen services to restaurants, country clubs, hotels, and other businesses throughout the area.
The community of Chester is reeling from the tragedy, with residents expressing shock and sadness over the senseless loss of life. Local officials have offered their condolences to the victims' families and are urging prayers for the injured.
"This is a heartbreaking event for our community," said Chester Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones during this difficult time."
