A freight train collided with a semi-truck carrying a mobile artillery vehicle in Goose Creek, South Carolina, causing significant damage to the street crossing and the military equipment.
A frightening incident unfolded in Goose Creek, South Carolina, on Thursday afternoon as an oncoming freight train crashed into a semi-truck hauling what appeared to be an M109 Paladin Howitzer mobile artillery vehicle. The impact sent shockwaves through the community, damaging the street crossing and raising concerns about the condition of the military hardware.
Jennifer Clinton and her son witnessed the harrowing crash from their vehicle nearby. Clinton shared with Fox News Digital, "My son's a little shook up, but yeah, we're okay," adding that "it was devastating to see" in person.

According to Clinton, the 18-wheeler became stuck while attempting to cross the train tracks, making it vulnerable to the oncoming train. The freight train eventually came to a halt after colliding with the military vehicle.
The aftermath of the crash was severe, with extensive damage to the intersection. Portions of the road were closed for an extended period as crews worked to clear the wreckage and repair the infrastructure.
Fortunately, despite the severity of the collision, Goose Creek Police reported that no injuries occurred. However, a man who exited the semi-truck declined medical treatment.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding the unit to which the Howitzer belongs. The extent of the damage to the train, semi, and artillery vehicle is also still being evaluated.
Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the cause and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
The incident has raised awareness about the importance of road safety and the potential consequences of failing to heed traffic signals. Community members are urged to exercise caution when approaching train crossings, especially when hauling heavy or oversized vehicles.
Goose Creek is home to the United States Naval Weapons Station Charleston, which is known for its involvement in military operations and training exercises. The presence of mobile artillery vehicles in the area is not uncommon, but the community can rest assured that appropriate safety protocols are in place.
Fox News will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
