Benjamin Shrader, a Texas-based CEO of Shrader Promotions LLC, was honored to meet Trump before the rally and was impressed by his jovial and upbeat demeanor. Despite the presence of ample security and tactical teams, Shrader said nothing seemed amiss.

Tragedy struck abruptly when shots rang out. Initially, some mistook the gunfire for fireworks, but Shrader recognized the danger and shouted "It's a shooter!" Chaos ensued as people scrambled for safety, some leaping onto chairs and screaming in horror.

Shrader watched in disbelief as a woman nearby was shot and crumpled to the ground, surrounded by a growing pool of blood. The scene was "horrific," he said, with CPR being performed on the unresponsive victim.

Amid the pandemonium, Shrader noticed Trump shielding his head with his vest but observed no visible blood. The Secret Service quickly reacted, whisking Trump off the stage to safety.

"The shots sounded relatively quiet. I was worried that somebody had pulled out a handgun behind me and was firing over at the president," Shrader recalled.

Shrader later realized that the shooter was firing from a nearby building, which was swarming with tactical soldiers. The Secret Service swiftly intervened, directing guests out of the VIP section to evacuate promptly.

Shaken but grateful to be alive, Shrader expressed his condolences for Corey Comperatore, the local fire chief who died protecting his daughter from the bullet. Comperatore was the only fatality besides the killer in the tragic incident.

"I'm definitely going to take a many-year break from rallies just because this was a genuinely close call for me," Shrader said.

Despite the trauma he experienced, Shrader remains a staunch Trump supporter and plans to vote for him in the upcoming election. "The president showed great strength in the face of this," he said. "I will walk through broken glass to vote for him."
