Newly released footage captures the harrowing moments when former President Trump came under fire at a rally in Pennsylvania. The video, shot by a rally attendee, shows the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, scaling a building and firing multiple rounds at the stage. A sniper swiftly neutralized Crooks, saving Trump's life.
In a chilling incident that unfolded at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, former President Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt thanks to the swift intervention of a sniper. The harrowing moments were captured on video by a rally attendee, Jon Malice, who witnessed the unfolding horror as he and his family watched from nearby.

The footage shows Crooks, 20, climbing the American Glass Research (AGR) building, gaining a clear line of sight to Trump. Malice initially dismissed the commotion surrounding Crooks's actions, believing it was an attempt to secure a better view.
As the situation escalated, Malice heard gunfire and realized the true nature of the threat. Crooks unleashed a barrage of eight shots, targeting Trump who sustained injuries to his ear. One spectator was tragically killed, and several others were injured in the ensuing chaos.

"I noticed about two minutes before the shooting started, the people were starting to say, 'hey, he's climbing up here, he's crawling around, he's doing this, he's doing that,'" Malice recounted to Fox News. "We just kind of ignored it because we thought it was some person trying to get a better view."
Malice, a military veteran, expressed surprise at the lack of security around the rally site. Witnesses near the AGR building did not have to undergo metal detector screenings despite having a clear view of Trump.

"One of the first things I noticed when we walked up, none of us have been vetted," he said. "We're all along the fence. We all have view of the stage. We can see Trump."
The video obtained by Malice offers a chilling perspective on the events leading up to the assassination attempt. One clip captured by his dash camera shows Crooks crossing a street and walking towards the AGR building. Malice realized later that the individual in the footage was indeed Crooks.
Another video shows Crooks pointing his rifle at Malice and his companions moments before being shot by Secret Service. Malice expressed disbelief that Secret Service agents were not present on the roof where Crooks had stationed himself.
The swift and decisive action of the sniper ultimately saved Trump's life and prevented a potential catastrophe. However, the incident has sparked concerns about security measures at political rallies and the vulnerability of public figures to such threats.
