In the wake of a Manhattan jury's guilty verdict against former President Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records, his attorney, Todd Blanche, has raised concerns about the impartiality of the judge presiding over the trial.

Speaking on "Jesse Watters Primetime," Blanche asserted that the Trump team had anticipated the outcome based on their belief that a fair trial in Manhattan was unlikely and that the judge, Juan Merchan, held prejudices against their client.

"I mean, no, I don't think so," Blanche responded when asked if Trump received a fair trial. "We couldn't get a fair trial in Manhattan. We couldn't get a fair trial with the judge."

Merchan imposed the criminal charges on Trump, making him the first former president to face a felony conviction. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 11, just days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Blanche indicated that one of the first actions the Trump legal team will pursue is appealing Merchan's decision to deny their request for him to recuse himself from the case due to allegations of bias and his daughter's employment as a Democratic consultant.

"Our system of justice requires not only that a judge that is actually biased recuse himself, but that a judge that even has the appearance of bias to recuse himself, and our papers are public," Blanche explained. "We've felt very strongly that there was an actual bias this judge had, and even if not an actual bias, that there was certainly a perception of bias."

Blanche added that he believed Trump's constitutional rights were violated "in many ways," primarily due to the gag order imposed on his client.

Trump himself expressed dissatisfaction with the verdict outside the New York State Supreme Court, calling the trial "rigged" and "disgraceful." He maintained his innocence and emphasized that "the real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people."

Blanche acknowledged the honor of working with Trump throughout the six-week trial, despite the unfavorable outcome.

"It's not over," he declared. "It's not over at all, but it was great."

Meanwhile, Judge Merchan has threatened jail time for Trump if he violates future gag orders, characterizing such actions as contempt of court and "possibly the next president" committing such offenses.

The guilty verdict and subsequent allegations of bias have sparked heated debate, raising questions about the impartiality of the judiciary and the potential implications for the upcoming Republican National Convention.
