Former President Trump alleges that the Biden-Harris administration denied requests for additional security, and that Democratic rhetoric calling him a threat to democracy may have incited the would-be assassin.
Former President Donald Trump has controversially linked his July assassination attempt to Democratic rhetoric and alleged security lapses by the Biden administration.
In an interview with Dr. Phil, Trump expressed anger over the denial of Secret Service protection by the Biden-Harris administration. He claimed that despite massive rallies with tens of thousands of attendees, his team faced constant resistance in obtaining adequate security.

Trump went on to suggest that Democratic rhetoric calling him a threat to democracy may have contributed to the attack. He cited incidents where his name was mentioned hundreds of times in political speeches, particularly at the Democratic National Convention.
"When you do things like that, the other side that disagrees with that or for whatever reason doesn't want to do it, a lot of hatred is generated," Trump said.

He further asserted that this hatred could potentially motivate assassins. "That can get assassins or potential assassins going. That's a terrible thing," he remarked.
Trump also questioned the motives of the Biden administration in denying additional security, suggesting that they had little regard for his safety. "I don't know if they wanted me to get shot, but do you think it was okay with them if you did?" he asked.

The Secret Service acknowledged that it had denied some requests for extra security made by Trump's team following the assassination attempt. However, the rationale behind these denials remains unclear.
Trump's allegations have drawn criticism from some political commentators, who argue that it is irresponsible to blame the victim for the actions of an assailant. They also question the validity of his claims regarding the extent of security lapses.

Despite the ongoing controversy, Trump remains adamant that he is a target of political hatred and that his safety was compromised by the Biden administration. He has called for a thorough investigation into the assassination attempt and the adequacy of the security provided to him.
The Biden administration and Harris campaign have not yet commented on Trump's allegations. The matter is still under investigation by law enforcement authorities, and the motives of the would-be assassin remain undisclosed.
