Former President Donald Trump has requested that Fox News host the next presidential debate, claiming that ABC News is biased and that Biden's withdrawal from the race has disrupted the schedule.
Former President Donald Trump has called for Fox News to host the next presidential debate, following President Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 race. Trump, who previously accepted two Fox News debates during this election cycle, has criticized ABC News, which was scheduled to host the second debate.
In a Truth Social post, Trump stated that the debate with Biden, who he referred to as "Crooked Joe Biden," should now be held on Fox News instead of "Fake News ABC." He also questioned the fairness of ABC News, home to journalist George Stephanopoulos.

The request comes after Biden officially dropped out of the presidential race amid mounting pressure from Democratic allies. Concerns over Biden's mental fitness and age have been raised, particularly after his performance in last month's debate.
In his withdrawal letter, Biden emphasized that he believes it is in the best interests of his party and the country for him to step down and focus on his presidential duties for the remainder of his term. He also endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

Harris, who is considered the likely candidate to replace Biden, still needs to become the official nominee at the Democratic National Convention next month. CNN moderated the first presidential debate in June, while ABC News was scheduled to host the second debate in September.
With Biden now out of the race, Trump is calling for the debate schedule to be modified and for Fox News to host the debate. It is unclear who Trump will debate until the DNC certifies its nominee.

Trump previously accepted two Fox News debates this election cycle, including a presidential debate for Oct. 2 and a vice presidential debate for a date that had not yet been determined. Following Biden's announcement, Trump claimed that Biden was "the Worst President, by far, in the History of our Nation."
He argued that Biden had "destroyed our Country" and was unfit to serve, alleging that those around him had lied about his mental decline. Trump also expressed confidence in defeating Harris, whom he described as an easier opponent than Biden.

In a follow-up Truth Social post, Trump questioned whether the Republican Party should be reimbursed for expenses related to "fighting Crooked Joe Biden" before he withdrew.
The ABC News debate is currently scheduled for Sept. 10. With Biden no longer participating, it remains to be seen how the debate schedule will be adjusted and who will replace Biden as the Democratic candidate.
