Former President Donald Trump has challenged President Joe Biden to an 18-hole golf match, offering to donate $1 million to a charity of Biden's choice if he loses. The challenge comes after the two presidential candidates got into a heated discussion about their golf handicaps during their 2020 presidential campaign.
At a rally at his Doral golf course in south Florida, Trump challenged Biden to a golf match, saying it would be "among the most-watched sporting events in history." He also offered to give Biden 10 strokes per side, or 20 strokes in total, and said he would still bet that Biden would not take the offer.

Trump's challenge stems from a debate in June 2020, when he claimed to have won two club championships and said that Biden could not drive a ball 50 yards. Biden responded by saying that he had gotten his golf handicap down to a six as vice president, which Trump disputed.
Trump's handicap has been recorded as low as 2.5, while Biden's self-reported handicap has been questioned by some golf experts.

Biden's spokesperson, James Singer, fired back at Trump's challenge, saying that "Donald Trump hasn’t been seen in public for 12 days, now he’s inviting fictional serial killers to dinner, teasing lil’ Marco Rubio, praising Project 2025 architect Tom Homan, and challenging the President of the United States to golf."
He added that "Joe Biden doesn’t have time for Donald Trump’s weird antics – he’s busy leading America and defending the free world."

The golf discussion between Trump and Biden has reignited a debate about the importance of golf handicaps in the sport. Some experts argue that handicaps are essential for ensuring fair competition, while others say they can be misleading and should not be taken too seriously.
Trump has a reputation as an avid golfer and owns several golf courses. Doral has hosted the LIV championship, while his course in Bedminster has also hosted the Saudi-backed tour.

It remains to be seen whether Biden will accept Trump's challenge. If he does, it would be a highly anticipated event that could draw a large audience. It would also be a rare opportunity for the two former rivals to compete against each other in a non-political setting.
