Former President Donald Trump has forcefully rejected Project 2025's proposals on abortion, labeling them as "way too far." Trump's repudiation of the project's radical stance highlights a growing divide within the Republican Party on the issue.
Former President Donald Trump has categorically rejected the proposals on abortion outlined in Project 2025, a conservative blueprint for a future Republican administration. In an exclusive interview with Fox News' Harris Faulkner, Trump expressed his strong disagreement with the project's extreme stance.
"I have no idea what it is. It's a group of extremely conservative people, [they] got together and wrote up a wish list of things, many of which I disagree with entirely," Trump said.

Despite his role in appointing three Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade, Trump criticized Project 2025's proposals as being too severe. "Like on abortion... From what I've heard, it's not too far, it's way too far," he stated.
Project 2025, also known as the Presidential Transition Project, is not associated with Trump's campaign and has drawn criticism from Democrats for its proposals on various issues, including government staffing, taxes, and drug prices.

Trump campaign spokesperson Danielle Alvarez emphasized that Project 2025 does not represent Trump's policies for a second term. "Agenda 47 and President Trump’s RNC Platform are the only policies endorsed by President Trump," she said.
Democrats have seized on Project 2025 as a campaign issue, accusing Republicans of supporting extreme measures. The Biden campaign has repeatedly highlighted the project's proposals, attempting to portray the Republican Party as out of touch with mainstream American values.

Despite the attacks from Democrats, Trump has remained steadfast in his opposition to Project 2025. In a post on Truth Social, he stated, "I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it."
Trump's rejection of Project 2025 reflects a growing divide within the Republican Party on the issue of abortion. While some conservatives support stricter abortion restrictions, others, like Trump, believe that the issue should be left to individual states to decide.
The debate over abortion is likely to continue to be a major issue in the 2024 presidential election, with both parties seeking to galvanize their bases and appeal to moderate voters. Trump's stance on Project 2025 highlights the complex and evolving nature of the abortion debate in American politics.
