Former Speaker Newt Gingrich and CNN's Harry Enten warn that President Biden is losing support among Black voters, while Trump's support is surging. This shift could significantly impact the 2024 election.

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich has warned that President Biden has "collapsed" with Black voters, while CNN's Harry Enten reports that Trump is expected to garner significant support from this demographic in the 2024 election.

"They're looking at grocery store prices they can't afford, and they know it's Biden's fault," Gingrich said on Fox News' "Hannity." "They're looking at millions of illegal immigrants coming into their neighborhoods, taking their jobs, threatening their families with violence, and they know Biden is responsible."

Gingrich believes this growing dissatisfaction among Black voters could lead to historic support for Trump in the upcoming election.

"I think he will get a higher vote than any Republican since Eisenhower and may, in fact, exceed Eisenhower," he said. "The momentum for the next four months, I think, is all going to be in… Trump's favor."

CNN's Enten expressed astonishment at the polling data, noting that Trump has tripled his support from Black voters over the last four years, from 7% in 2020 to 21% in 2024.

"I keep looking for signs that this is going to go back to normal and I don’t see it yet in the polling," Enten said. "If anything, right now we’re careening towards historic performance for a Republican presidential candidate, the likes of which we have not seen in six decades."

Enten highlighted Biden's declining support among Black voters under the age of 50, from 80 points in 2020 to just 37 points in 2024.

"I’ve just never seen anything like this. I’m like speechless," Enten said.

In late May, Enten warned that Trump's gains with Black voters represented a "huge alarm" for Biden's re-election campaign. He said that even without accounting for other voting shifts from 2020, the increase in Black support would put Trump over the top in 2024 with 291 Electoral College votes.

Polls from USA Today/Suffolk University and Fox News have also shown a significant drop in Biden's support among Black voters in key swing states such as Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Despite these gains by Trump, Biden still holds the majority of support among Black voters. However, the growing dissatisfaction with his presidency could significantly impact the outcome of the 2024 election.

This shift in Black voter support is a major development in the upcoming election, as this demographic has traditionally been a reliable voting bloc for the Democratic Party.
