FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed that Thomas Crooks, the man who shot at former President Trump's Pennsylvania rally, searched for information about the assassination of President Kennedy just days before the event.

FBI Director Christopher Wray unveiled a chilling discovery on Wednesday, revealing that Thomas Crooks, the gunman who targeted former President Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, had conducted online searches related to the assassination of President Kennedy just a week prior to the incident.

This disclosure emerged during Wray's testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, where he provided updates on the investigation into the attempted assassination. "Around July 6, Crooks became fixated on President Trump and the upcoming rally," Wray explained to lawmakers.

The investigation uncovered a laptop believed to belong to Crooks, which contained a Google search from July 6th for "how far away was Oswald from Kennedy?" This search, according to Wray, is highly relevant to Crooks' state of mind and potential motivations.

"Significantly, this search was conducted on the same day that Crooks registered for the Butler rally," Wray emphasized.

In the wake of the attempted assassination, Congress has held several hearings to examine the Secret Service's handling of the situation. On Monday, former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle testified before the House Oversight Committee and subsequently resigned. The House Homeland Security Committee heard testimony from Pennsylvania State Police on Tuesday, followed by Wray's hearing on Wednesday.

Several lawmakers, including Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-Fla.), have expressed concerns about the Secret Service's failure to secure the roof of the building from which Crooks fired his shots. Gimenez personally climbed onto the roof and described his astonishment at its lack of security.

Despite the Secret Service's claims that the roof's steepness prohibited agents from being positioned there, Gimenez and other lawmakers have pointed out the ease with which they were able to access the roof.

While the investigation into the Trump shooting continues, a profile of Crooks has begun to emerge. According to a profiler cited by Fox News, Crooks is unlikely to have been politically motivated but rather an "organized thinker" with a fascination with violence.

The FBI's discovery of Crooks' online searches for information about the JFK assassination has raised questions about his potential intentions at the Trump rally. As the investigation progresses, authorities will continue to analyze these details to determine the full extent of Crooks' motivations and the implications for future security措施.
