Former President Donald Trump believes Vice President Kamala Harris will fill President Joe Biden's shoes if he is forced out of the 2024 presidential race or steps down.
Former President Donald Trump recently reflected on President Biden's debate performance, the border crisis, and his potential vice presidential pick in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. Trump expressed skepticism about Biden's potential withdrawal from the race, suggesting that his ego and unwillingness to quit could keep him in the running.
Trump stated, "It looks to me like he may very well stay, and he's got an ego, and he doesn't want to quit." Biden responded by sending a letter to House Democrats, reaffirming his commitment to the race and his belief that he is the best candidate to defeat Trump.

"We had a Democratic nomination process, and the voters have spoken clearly and decisively," Biden wrote. "I received over 14 million votes, making me the presumptive nominee of our party by a wide margin."
Trump predicted that if Biden does not continue, Vice President Kamala Harris would likely take his place. "I think she's an ineffective person," Trump said. "She was in charge of the border, she's never been there, she didn't do a good job, and she hasn't done a job on a lot of things."

Trump added that he believes Biden holds significant power due to his delegate count, making it unlikely for Democrats to force him out. "I think unless they use the 25th amendment, he has all the power," Trump stated.
Meanwhile, House Democrats have held virtual meetings to discuss Biden's re-election campaign in light of his debate performance. According to Fox News senior congressional correspondent Chad Pergram, multiple ranking Democrats expressed their desire for Biden to step aside during a meeting convened by Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Jeffries, however, clarified that he still supports Biden and the Democratic ticket. "I made clear publicly the day after the debate that I support President Joe Biden and the Democratic ticket," Jeffries said. "My position has not changed."
Biden and Trump are expected to face off in another debate in September. The outcome of that debate and the ongoing political dynamics could further shape the race for the presidency.
