Matthew Crooks, father of would-be Trump assassin Thomas Crooks, was spotted for the first time since the assassination attempt. FBI Director Christopher Wray disclosed that the family had over a dozen firearms, including the AR-style rifle used by Thomas.
For the first time since his son's failed assassination attempt on former President Trump, Matthew Crooks, father of would-be assassin Thomas Crooks, was seen in public. This revelation emerged as the FBI Director, Christopher Wray, unveiled startling details about the Crooks family's possession of numerous firearms.
In his testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, Wray disclosed that an extensive search of the Crooks' Pennsylvania home revealed a staggering 14 firearms. Among these was the AR-style rifle legally purchased by Matthew Crooks and subsequently sold to his son, Thomas, who used it in the assassination attempt.

Wray further disclosed that Thomas was a self-proclaimed "fairly avid shooting enthusiast." The authorities discovered an assortment of magazines for the rifle, a bulletproof vest, and crude explosive devices capable of remote detonation in Thomas's car.
The FBI's comprehensive investigation is still ongoing, with over 400 interviews conducted so far. Wray noted that the bureau had yet to uncover a manifesto or any other clues that could shed light on the 20-year-old shooter's precise motive for the attack on Trump.

To better understand the perpetrator's mindset, the FBI's behavioral analysis unit is meticulously constructing a profile of Thomas Crooks. The unit aims to uncover patterns, motivations, and any underlying psychological factors that may have influenced his actions.
When approached by reporters this week, Matthew Crooks expressed that the family was not yet prepared to make any public statements regarding their son's actions. He pleaded for privacy and requested that the family be given space to process this difficult situation.

Matthew Crooks indicated that their legal counsel had advised them to refrain from commenting until a later date. It remains unclear when, or if, the family will release a statement addressing their son's actions.
Wray emphasized the gravity of the assassination attempt, characterizing it as an attack on the very fabric of American democracy. He acknowledged the immense public interest in the case and vowed to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
Despite the family's request for privacy, Matthew Crooks was spotted leaving a local supermarket. He loaded groceries into his vehicle, making no further comments to the press.
The news of the Crooks family's arsenal of firearms and their son's alleged actions has sent shockwaves through the Bethel Park community. Residents have expressed concern and disbelief, questioning how such an incident could have occurred in their seemingly peaceful neighborhood.
