The community of Clairton, Pennsylvania is reeling from the news that Thomas Crooks, a local man, was identified as the suspect in the deadly attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Crooks' neighbor speaks out about her limited interactions with the family, while the FBI continues its investigation at the gun club where he practiced his aim.

In the aftermath of the shocking assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, the community of Clairton, Pennsylvania is grappling with the realization that the alleged gunman was a local resident.

Kelly Little, a resident who lives directly across the street from the Crooks family in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, tells Fox News Digital that she rarely encountered them despite their close proximity.

"I saw them maybe once or twice a month," she says. "They were pretty quiet people."

Little says she was unaware of any suspicious behavior from the Crooks family, and was shocked to learn of Thomas Crooks' alleged involvement in the attack.

"It's just really sad and disturbing to think that something like this could happen in our neighborhood," she says.

Meanwhile, the Clairton Sportmen's Club, where Crooks was a member, is under scrutiny as the FBI conducts a probe into the security breach that allowed an armed individual to come within 130 yards of Trump.

FBI agents have been combing the club for evidence, but it is not yet clear if anything of value has been found.

The club's attorney, Rob Bootay, has released a statement condemning Crooks' actions and expressing condolences to the victims.

"Obviously, the Club fully admonishes the senseless act of violence that occurred," Bootay says. "The Club also offers its sincerest condolences to the Comperatore family and extends prayers to all of those injured including the former President."

Investigators are still searching for a motive for the attack and are scrutinizing data obtained from Crooks' phone.

According to law enforcement sources, Crooks fired a DPMS AR-15 5.56 rifle during the assassination attempt, which was purchased by his father in 2013.

The weapon, along with Crooks' phone, laptop, and an improvised explosive device found in his car, are currently being analyzed at the FBI's forensics lab in Quantico, Virginia.

The FBI has also interviewed nearly 100 witnesses, including members of law enforcement, and is seeking any information that could assist in the investigation.

As the investigation continues, the community of Clairton is struggling to make sense of the tragedy.

"It's a reminder that we need to be more vigilant and aware of our surroundings," says Little. "We never know when something like this could happen again."
