Former President Donald Trump provided hints about his potential running mate in an interview with Fox News' "Hannity," suggesting a pre- or during-convention announcement.

In an interview with Fox News' "Hannity," former President Donald Trump hinted at the possibility of announcing his vice presidential pick before or even during the Republican National Convention (RNC), which is set to commence in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, next week.

Trump expressed a preference for making the announcement during the convention but acknowledged that his team had raised concerns about the feasibility of such a move. "I’d love to do it during the convention," he said, "but my people say that’s a little complicated."

Regarding potential candidates, Fox News host Sean Hannity mentioned four individuals generally considered to be on Trump's short list: Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), JD Vance (R-OH), and Tim Scott (R-SC), as well as North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum. Trump confirmed that these names were under consideration, adding that the Republican Party had a "great bench" of qualified individuals.

Trump emphasized that he had not yet made a final decision but had some ideas in mind. "I haven’t made a final decision, but I have some ideas as to where we’re going," he said.

This statement contrasts with his remarks during a campaign stop in Philadelphia last month, when he claimed to have already decided on his running mate but had not informed the individual. "In my mind, yeah," he had responded when asked if he had made a decision. When pressed if the person he had selected knew, Trump stated, "No, nobody knows."

In the Fox News interview, Trump outlined the qualities he sought in a running mate: "a person that can do a fantastic job as president" and "somebody that helps you get elected."

The former president has reveled in the intrigue and speculation surrounding his vice presidential decision, offering cryptic hints and keeping potential contenders guessing.

Rubio is scheduled to join Trump at a campaign rally at his Doral golf club near Miami, Florida, on Tuesday evening. Vance's potential presence at a rally near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday is currently unknown.

Trump's campaign has dismissed the rampant speculation, stating that "Anyone claiming to know who or when President Trump will choose his VP is lying, unless the person is named Donald J. Trump," according to campaign senior adviser Brian Hughes.

The vice presidential pick remains a closely guarded secret, with Trump holding the key to the announcement timing and the identity of his chosen running mate. The RNC will provide a stage for a potential pre- or during-convention revelation, further fueling the suspense and anticipation surrounding Trump's decision.
