Donald Trump, the former president and presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has wasted no time in getting back on the campaign trail following his historic criminal trial in New York City.

Just hours after being convicted of all 34 felony counts in his case, Trump headlined a campaign fundraiser. On Saturday, he attended a UFC match in Newark, New Jersey, and on Sunday, he appeared for an interview on "Fox and Friends."

"We’ll be fighting hard," Trump told Fox News' Brooke Singman in an interview soon after his conviction.

Trump emphasized that he was excited to get back on the campaign trail.

For six weeks, Trump had been confined to the courtroom in Lower Manhattan, preventing him from campaigning extensively across the country. However, his campaign touted that even during the trial, he generated "billions of dollars" in media coverage and hosted rallies and fundraisers.

Trump's conviction did not appear to have a significant impact on his standing in the polls. He still enjoys a slight edge over President Biden in key battleground states.

Trump's top pollsters argued that a conviction would not have any electoral consequences.

"We are already back to the mission," the Trump campaign told Fox News Digital. "President Trump won’t let this sham stop the movement of this campaign to save the nation."

Longtime Republican strategist David Carney, a veteran of multiple GOP presidential campaigns and now steering a pro-Trump super PAC, said that "the show trial is over and Trump is unleashed to campaign at will again. With the miscarriage of justice out in the open, he will have the wind to his back."

Trump's campaign reported a surge in fundraising following the verdict. They announced raising $34.8 million in the immediate aftermath and updated the total to nearly $53 million within 24 hours.

The campaign highlighted a "record shattering small dollar fundraising haul" and said it was "nearly double the biggest day ever recorded for the Trump campaign on the WinRed platform."

Trump will continue his fundraising blitz with a swing through California next week. He will attend a dinner in San Francisco on June 6 and fundraisers in Beverly Hills and Newport Beach.

Despite California's Democratic leanings, it remains a crucial ATM for campaign cash for both Trump and his potential rivals.

As Trump embarks on his campaign, he faces both legal challenges and a crowded field of potential Republican contenders. His ability to navigate these challenges and maintain his support base will be crucial to his chances of winning the 2024 presidential election.
