The Trump campaign is standing by vice presidential candidate JD Vance, dismissing criticism of his past comments on women.
The Trump campaign has reaffirmed its confidence in vice presidential candidate JD Vance and dismissed criticism of his past comments on women.
In an interview with The Brian Kilmeade Show on Friday, Trump co-campaign manager and GOP political strategist Chris LaCivita said Vance is a "perfect representation" of the campaign's fight for "working women" and that his past comments have been "blatantly taken out of context."

LaCivita pointed to Vance's support for the child care tax credit, which he said Democrats have now criticized him for, as evidence that he is not against childless women.
"It's absolutely absurd," LaCivita said of the criticism. "We're very comfortable. JD was the best pick. The president loves him. We love him. He's a great part of this team. We're going to continue fighting alongside of him to make America great again. And again, he is a very important part of this campaign. He is a central part. And we're thrilled to have him."
Trump's Campaign Defends JD Vance's Past Comments on Women
Vance has previously said that he believes women should be "cared for" and protected and that men have an obligation to be "strong" and "courageous." He has also said that he believes women should not be "used as pawns" in the political debate over abortion.
These comments have been criticized by some as being sexist and out of touch with the views of modern women. However, LaCivita said Vance's comments have been taken out of context and that he is actually a strong supporter of women's rights.
"I think JD Vance is a great choice for vice president," LaCivita said. "He's a smart, articulate, and compassionate man who is committed to fighting for the American people. I'm confident that he will be a valuable asset to the Trump campaign and to the country."
Vance's selection as Trump's running mate has been met with mixed reactions. Some have praised Vance as a rising star in the Republican Party and a strong advocate for working-class voters. Others have criticized Vance for his past comments on women and his lack of experience in elected office.
It remains to be seen how Vance's past comments will affect his chances of helping Trump win the presidency. However, LaCivita's comments suggest that the Trump campaign is confident that Vance will be a valuable asset to the campaign.
