In a recent appearance on the Fox News show "Gutfeld!", former President Donald Trump discussed his eclectic group of supporters, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.), Tulsi Gabbard, and Elon Musk.

Trump expressed his appreciation for the support of these high-profile individuals, describing them as "good people" who "do the job." He highlighted the Teamsters union's decision to remain neutral in the 2024 presidential election, noting that nearly 60% of its members supported him.

The Teamsters, known for their strong ties to working-class voters, had endorsed the Democratic candidate in every presidential election since 1980. Trump suggested that their decision to stay neutral was a sign of his strong support among blue-collar workers.

Trump's campaign pointed to surveys showing his significant lead over Vice President Kamala Harris among Teamsters members. Karoline Leavitt, the campaign's national press secretary, emphasized that "the hardworking members of the Teamsters have been loud and clear — they want President Trump back in the White House."

The union, however, explained that their decision was based on a lack of consensus among members regarding a preferred candidate. General President Sean O'Brien stated that "neither major candidate was able to make serious commitments to ensure the interests of working people are always put before Big Business."

Meanwhile, a New York City union official and former Democrat, Bob Bartels, expressed his opposition to Harris, citing concerns about immigration, inflation, and the impact on working-class communities.

The Harris campaign pointed to endorsements from "many Teamsters locals and rank and file," highlighting her long-standing support for organized labor. Spokesperson Lauren Hitt stated that "Teamsters locals across the country have already endorsed her."

The Teamsters union has over 1 million members in the U.S. and is widely considered to have significant influence in key Midwestern and swing states. Their decision to remain neutral in the 2024 election could potentially impact the outcome of the race.
