Former President Donald Trump vehemently criticized his recent guilty verdict in a criminal case, alleging a politically motivated prosecution and a surge in his political support. In an exclusive interview with "Fox & Friends Weekend," Trump decried the verdict as a result of weaponization and unfair treatment.

"It's weaponization, and it's a very dangerous thing. We've never had that in this country," Trump asserted during the interview. A Manhattan jury had found him guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to his Trump Organization.

Trump dismissed the trial as a "scam" and expressed confidence in Republican support amid the fallout. "People get it. It's a scam," he stated. "And the Republican Party... they've stuck together in this. They see it's a weaponization of the Justice Department of the FBI and that's all coming out of Washington."

The interview explored the potential impact of the conviction on Trump's political aspirations, including the 2024 presidential election. A recent Daily Mail poll suggested a 6-point increase in Trump's approval ratings after the verdict.

"People get it. It's a scam," Trump reiterated. "And the Republican Party... they've stuck together in this. They see it's a weaponization of the Justice Department of the FBI and that's all coming out of Washington."

Trump also criticized the alleged unfairness of the trial, particularly the location in Manhattan and the presiding judge, Juan Merchan. "We had probably, maybe the worst area in the whole country for me in terms of the vote... and they always bring them [charges] in these sections. They're places where Republicans get virtually no votes," he argued.

"But, the good news is that I think we've set a record beyond all records for fundraising."

Following the guilty verdict, Trump's fundraising page reported a record influx of donations, seemingly capitalizing on the controversy and dissatisfaction among his supporters.

Trump's legal team has vowed to appeal the conviction, potentially leading to further legal proceedings and a possible reversal of the verdict.

The interview also highlighted Trump's continued popularity among many Republican voters, despite the guilty verdict. In several key swing states, Trump maintains a lead over President Biden in various polls, signaling potential support in the upcoming election.

Trump's post-conviction interview showcased his belief that the prosecution was politically motivated and a manifestation of a larger effort to undermine him. He expressed confidence in Republican support and hinted at a resurgence in his political standing. While the future trajectory of his case remains uncertain, the fallout from the verdict has reignited political debates and underscored the enduring influence of Donald Trump in the American political landscape.
