Foster began his statement by highlighting UCLA's achievements and their move to the Big Ten after the Pac-12 dissolved. However, he seemed to lose his train of thought and paused for an uncomfortable amount of time.

"I'm sure you guys don't know too much about UCLA, our football program, but we're in LA," Foster said, followed by a long pause. "It's us and USC. We, umm…"

The moment quickly went viral on social media, with college football fans criticizing Foster.

"Omg they're going 2-10," one user said on Twitter.

Another added, "It's almost like he saw a ghost in the audience, or something."

Foster may not have delivered the most polished speech, but he remained playful about the situation. According to CBS Sports, he joked that he would be checking Twitter to see the jokes about his performance.

Foster clarified that he prefers answering reporters' questions rather than making lengthy speeches.

"I'm just not a rah, rah guy," Foster said. "I played football. I didn't start coaching at 20."

Despite the awkward moment, Foster is a knowledgeable coach who knows UCLA well. He set multiple records during his time as a player, including rushing yards for a freshman. He was also an All-American after rushing for 1,109 yards with 12 touchdowns in his senior year.

Foster was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft.

As a coach, Foster hopes to lead the Bruins to success on the field and make fans forget about his media day performance.

The Bruins' first game of the season will be on Aug. 31 when they travel to Hawaii.
