The event, organized by singer John Rich, drew hundreds of students to the American Legion Post 6 in honor of the students who helped keep the flag from falling to the ground. Several American Legion and VFW members also volunteered their day off to attend the event.
The show began with a performance by Big & Rich, followed by Lee Greenwood, Aaron Lewis, and John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting. Sublime's Roman Rene Ramirez also made a surprise appearance.

Throughout the night, the crowd of Chapel Hill students waved American flags and chanted "USA!" as the singers took turns performing their patriotic anthems.
In between sets, Rich and Greenwood addressed the students, telling them that it was "okay to be patriotic" and that they were "proud" of them for standing up for the flag.

"You guys are the future of this country," Rich said. "And you're the ones who are going to make a difference."
Greenwood added, "We're here tonight to celebrate your patriotism. And we're here to tell you that it's okay to love your country."

The concert culminated in a performance of "God Bless the USA" by Rich and Greenwood, which brought the crowd to its feet.
The event was organized by Rich after he saw a video of the UNC students defending the flag on campus. The students' actions inspired a GoFundMe campaign that raised over $500,000, which was used to fund the concert.

"These kids are the future of our country," Rich said. "And they're the ones who are going to make a difference."

The concert was met with mixed reactions from the UNC community. Some students said they were grateful for the support and that the concert was a way to show their patriotism. Others said they were concerned that the event would only further divide the campus community.
Despite the mixed reactions, the concert was a success, according to Rich. He said the event was a way to show the students that they were not alone and that there were people who supported them.
