Christopher Wilder, the "Beauty Queen Killer," may be connected to unsolved murders in Florida and New York, including the cases of Tammy Jo Alexander, Shari Lynne Ball, and Tammy Lee Leppert. Authorities are investigating these links as they delve into the extent of Wilder's crimes.
Christopher Wilder, the infamous "Beauty Queen Killer," terrorized the nation in the 1980s, leaving a trail of victims in his wake. While his deadly rampage culminated in a shootout with New Hampshire State Police in 1984, the full extent of his crimes remains shrouded in mystery. Authorities are now investigating links between Wilder and several unsolved murders in Florida and New York.
In 1979, the body of 16-year-old Tammy Jo Alexander was discovered in Caledonia, New York. Despite extensive efforts, her identity remained unknown until 2015. When authorities finally identified her, they discovered that she was wearing an Auto Sports Products, Inc. jacket, a distinctive piece of clothing that may hold clues to her tragic end.
Investigators believe that Alexander was abducted while hitchhiking with truckers, a common practice in the area at the time. She was then dragged into a cornfield and shot to death, leaving behind a cold case that has haunted authorities for decades.
In 1983, Shari Lynne Ball vanished from her hometown of Boca Raton, Florida. Four months later, her body was found in upstate New York, a chilling discovery that sent shockwaves through both communities. Ball's family reported that she had been pursuing a modeling career when she disappeared, leading to speculation that she may have crossed paths with Wilder, known for his predatory tactics towards young women.
New York State Police have stated that they cannot rule out Wilder as a suspect in Ball's murder. They note that his modus operandi aligns with her case, as Wilder often befriended aspiring models and enticed them with promises of success.
In 1983, 18-year-old Tammy Lee Leppert disappeared from Rockledge, Florida. Her mother filed a lawsuit against Wilder before his death, alleging that he met her daughter on the set of the movie "Spring Break" and coerced her into leaving.
Leppert had a history of modeling, which further strengthened the connection between her case and Wilder's pattern of targeting young women with modeling aspirations. The lawsuit was eventually dropped after Wilder's death, but the mystery surrounding Leppert's disappearance persists.
Wilder's link to unsolved murders in Florida extends beyond the cases of Alexander, Ball, and Leppert. In Loxahatchee, Florida, the remains of an unidentified woman were discovered in 1982 on property owned by Wilder. Additionally, the disappearance of several other women in the area remains unsolved.
Authorities continue to explore the possible involvement of Christopher Wilder in these unsolved murder cases. The FBI is actively investigating the links between his known crimes and the cold cases in Florida and New York.
The extent of Wilder's crimes may never be fully known, but authorities are determined to bring closure to the families and victims who have been left in the shadows of his deadly rampage. The investigation into these unsolved cases is a testament to their unwavering commitment to justice, even when it has been delayed by time.
