"Our football program is heartbroken to have to endure the loss of one of our own," Drelling said. "Having had a previous relationship with Andre during our time together at New Mexico State, I can tell you he was an incredible person and teammate."

Seldon's football journey began at Belleville High School in Michigan, where he excelled as a cornerback. His outstanding performance earned him a spot in the prestigious Under Armour All-America game in 2020, where he showcased his exceptional athleticism and skills.

After committing to the University of Michigan, Seldon appeared in only two games for the Wolverines. Seeking more playing time, he transferred to New Mexico State in 2022, where he made a significant impact. Over two seasons with the Aggies, Seldon recorded an impressive 64 tackles and two interceptions.

In 2024, Seldon was set to join the Utah State Aggies, where he was expected to play a key role in the team's defensive unit. However, his promising career was tragically cut short by this devastating accident.

Vice President and Director of Athletics Diana Sabau expressed the university's profound sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to Seldon's family and loved ones.

"Our Utah State University Athletics family is devastated over the sudden death of Andre Seldon Jr.," Sabau said. "We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all who loved Andre."
