Three and a half years after Jason Landry vanished while driving home from Texas State University, his family clings to hope and prays for answers. Investigators have hit a roadblock, leaving them in a frustrating holding pattern.

Kent Landry, a former lawyer turned pastor, has spent the past 1,266 days in agony, his heart heavy with unanswered questions about the whereabouts of his son, Jason. Jason, a freshman student at Texas State University, vanished without a trace on December 13, 2020, while driving home for Christmas break.

"They don't even know if he's missing in the sense of a crime – or missing, and he hasn't been found," Kent told Fox News Digital.

That fateful night, Jason was last seen leaving his San Marcos apartment, heading towards his home in Missouri City. However, he never reached his destination.

Early the next morning, a volunteer firefighter discovered Jason's abandoned car in Luling, Texas, a mile off course from his intended route and facing the wrong direction.

Kent has relentlessly pursued answers, collaborating with investigators and attending events like CrimeCon in the hope of generating leads.

"We pray and hope that law enforcement will find someone, or if there's any person who knows something, they come forward," he said. "They can do it anonymously or they can contact law enforcement to help give us answers in closure."

Despite exhaustive searches and recovered evidence like Jason's wallet, clothes, and phone, investigators have reached a stalemate.

"They've investigated everything that they have to hand," Kent said of the Texas Attorney General's Cold Case unit. "They're still willing to investigate more, do more, if it comes to light. But that's about where they stand…kind of in a holding pattern."

In July 2022, the family's hopes flickered briefly when a man with a striking resemblance to Jason was discovered unconscious in New York City. However, the NYPD later identified him as a missing resident of Yonkers, crushing the Landrys' aspirations.

Amid the frustration and uncertainty, they cling to a $20,000 reward for information leading to Jason's whereabouts.

Kent's plea to supporters goes beyond his son's case. He urges them to share missing person flyers for individuals in their own communities.

"Make sure that you take time this summer to enjoy the little things with your kids," he wrote in a poignant message, accompanied by a photo of himself dropping Jason off at school as a child.

As the Landrys continue to navigate the emotional labyrinth of their son's disappearance, they cling to the unwavering belief that the truth will eventually prevail.
