Max Verstappen and Lando Norris engaged in a heated battle at the Austrian Grand Prix, resulting in both drivers crashing and losing their chances at top-three finishes.

Max Verstappen of Red Bull and McLaren's Lando Norris found themselves locked in an intense duel for the lead at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, a battle that ultimately cost both drivers a podium spot. With just seven laps remaining, Norris attempted to overtake Verstappen, but the two collided, causing Verstappen's tire to puncture and come loose.

Verstappen was able to swiftly return to the pits but could only finish in fifth place. Norris, however, was forced to retire from the race due to the extent of his car's damage. Following the incident, Norris expressed his frustration with Verstappen's alleged "dangerous" blocking tactics. He also received a time penalty for exceeding track limits while attempting to navigate around Verstappen.

Verstappen, who was given a 10-second time penalty for causing the collision, acknowledged that he would have to review the incident thoroughly. Both drivers have agreed to discuss the matter further, but Norris believes that Verstappen should apologize for his role in the crash.

The McLaren racer expressed his disappointment with the outcome, emphasizing that he gave Verstappen a "fair, respectful, on-the-edge battle," but did not receive the same treatment in return. Meanwhile, Verstappen acknowledged his team's below-par performance and expressed more annoyance with the team's overall performance than with the crash itself.
