Regarding immigration, Harris acknowledged that her current approach differs from her earlier support for decriminalizing illegal border crossings. She clarified that while she still believes in comprehensive immigration reform, she recognizes the need to address the humanitarian crisis at the border and secure it effectively.

"My values have not changed," Harris emphasized. "I believe we need to treat people with dignity and respect, and that includes immigrants who are seeking asylum or have come to this country to find a better life."

Harris expressed her disappointment with the Biden administration's decision to continue the Title 42 policy, which allows for the rapid expulsion of asylum seekers at the border due to public health concerns. However, she acknowledged the complexity of the border situation and pledged to find humane and effective solutions.

On climate change, Harris emphasized her unwavering commitment to addressing the crisis. She noted that her previous support for the Green New Deal reflected the urgency of the issue, but she now believes a more comprehensive approach is necessary.

"The climate crisis is upon us," Harris stated. "We need to mobilize all of society to take action, including businesses, communities, and individuals."

Harris highlighted the Biden administration's ambitious climate goals, including achieving a carbon-free electric grid by 2035 and investing heavily in clean energy infrastructure. She pledged to work tirelessly to ensure these goals are met and to address the disproportionate impact of climate change on vulnerable communities.

Harris also addressed concerns about perceived inconsistencies in her past statements. She attributed these shifts to the evolving nature of the challenges facing the nation and the ongoing dialogue with experts and policymakers.

"My values are driven by my lived experiences and my understanding of the challenges that people face," Harris explained. "As these challenges evolve, my understanding and my approach may also evolve."

Harris emphasized her commitment to listening to diverse perspectives and adapting her policies accordingly. She expressed confidence that her approach would enable her to effectively address the complex issues confronting the nation.

"I am committed to finding common ground, building consensus, and delivering results for the American people," Harris concluded. "That's what I've done throughout my career, and that's what I will continue to do as Vice President."
